The problem with getting new camera equipment is learning to use it. Let's consider this my goal for the weekend.

music monday | ann peebles - the handwriting is on the wall

This song comes via Big K.R.I.T.'s latest mixtape 4Eva N A Day. It's sampled on K.R.I.T.'s "Handwriting" and it turns out that I like both songs. Give them a listen, if you've got a second.

rapid change

You know all that stuff I said about nice weather and bare legs the other day? Bollocks. When I left my home, the sky was clear and temps were in the 70s. By the time lunch rolled around it was rainy, grey, and 50 degrees. A pox on me for not checking the weather that morning. I had to go home and adjust my outfit on my lunch break, because while 50 degrees isn't really that cold, Traversing around in wet ballet flats is not my idea of a good time.

winsome

I'd nearly forgotten how nice it feels to bare a little leg. I'm quite fond of the visual interest tights can give an outfit, but as I've written about before, I love my legs. Feeling the mild air whip against my legs is what I love most about spring. These feelings will quickly dissipate as the spring-time breeze turns into summer heat, but for now I'm simply enjoying the moment.

And because I can't get enough of Gotye, here's a dance remix of "Somebody That I Used To Know".

music monday (or tuesday) | white town - 'your woman'

The optimal time to post this video would have been yesterday, but I was procrastinating then. Monday's are such a slog and I when I don't properly plan ahead, time gets away from me. But I didn't want to let that stop me from posting White Town's "Your Woman". I heard this over at Miss Riot earlier today and I'm pretty much a fan of any song that references Karl Marx. If you have a moment, give it a listen.

february | a month in review

I can't believe it's March already. It seems like the year just started. Nevertheless, here are the five things that kept me busy in February:

1. revlon lip butters

revlon lip butters

Considering how infrequently I wear lipstick, I don't know why I buy these, but nearly every time I walk into a drug store, I'm tempted to come out with at least one new color.

2. code academy

code academy

In an effort to lessen my computer illiteracy, I decided to participate in Code Academy's Code Year. I'm a little behind, but I still think I can work my way into a basic understanding of computer programming by the end of the year.

3. downton abbey

Downton Abbey is hands-down my favorite show at the moment. The second season wasn't a good as the first and I agree that it exposed some of the limitations of show creator Julian Fellows, but those flaws didn't keep me from watching every Sunday night. Here's to hoping season 3 will lose the gimmicky aspects of the show and focus on the parts that make Downton enjoyable.

4. broiled grapefruit

broiled grapefruit

I got the idea for this guilt-free dessert from Joy the Baker, and I've been loving it all month. So easy and so good.

5. feist

Feist's three albums were on a constant loop throughout February. I've long liked her music, but I just recently realized how well I can study while listening. "Intuition" is my favorite at the moment.

I've noticed a definite uptick in the number of stylish folks shopping at my favorite thrift store. A good third of my wardrobe comes from this store, and I'm not particularly jazzed about possibly having to share my loot. Rather than act all territorial, it might be time for me to branch out and explore the thrift stores in the other parts of the city. I live in a fairly large area, might as well take advantage of all it has to offer.
